This repository provides access to digital versions of document and audio sources relating to Friedrich Kittler's 1983 lecture series On technical preconditions of literature around 1900 (Über technische Voraussetzungen der Literatur um 1900). It comprises recordings made on audio cassette, speaker's notes, and transcriptions of the audio made by Dr. Sandrina Khaled.

Kittler's lecture was delivered in three parts, beginning in the Spring of 1983 at Albert-Ludwigs-Universität, Freiburg Br., then at Stanford University during the Autumn of that year, and concluding in Freiburg. Announcements of the two German lectures have been provided by Freiburg University, and the announcement for the Stanford course was found among Kittler’s papers at the German Literature Archive, Marbach. Detailed type- and hand-written notes for all three seminars are available and in addition the audio recordings made by Bernhard Siegert, which are now held at Marbach, have been digitized and are available for playout here.
